Mezzalina is an Honours student under the supervision of Simon Ho and David Duchêne (University of Copenhagen). She is interested in the methods used to explore and understand evolutionary biology. Her Honours research focuses on the phylogeny and evolutionary timescale of marsupials.
Prior to joining the MEEP Lab, Mezzalina was an academic visitor in the Moritz Lab at The Australian National University under the supervision of David Duchêne. Here she worked on a number of projects assessing the evolutionary signals across loci, and their impact on phylogenetic inference. She completed her Bachelor of Genetics at The Australian National University, where she undertook a number of research projects in the fields of biological anthropology, genetic counselling, and phylogenomics.
