Perry started her PhD in 2017 under the supervision of Nate Lo and Simon Ho. She is studying parallel evolution and phylogenetics of Australian giant burrowing cockroaches. Her interests include science education, travel, and social justice issues.

Perry completed a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) at the University of Adelaide prior to graduating with First Class Honours in 2016. Her Honours research involved the phylogenetics and biogeography of Australian cave crickets.
