Saphira commenced her PhD in 2025 under the supervision of Simon Ho, Trevor Wilson (Botanic Gardens of Sydney), and Nathan Lo. She is working on phylogenomic analysis of mosses.
Prior to her PhD, Saphira completed a joint Master of Biology at LMU Munich and Master of Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics at Uppsala University as part of the Erasmus Mundus Master Program in Evolutionary Biology (MEME). She also has a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Biology) (Hons I) from the University of Queensland, Australia, majoring in genetics.
