Maxim Adams is a PhD candidate supervised by Nathan Lo and Catherine Grueber. His research examines the evolution, ecology, and conservation of island species, focusing on the invertebrates of the Pacific Ocean.
Maxim completed his Honours project in 2023 under the supervision of Nathan Lo and Simon Ho. His thesis tackled the biogeography and conservation genetics of Australian Panesthia cockroaches, and led to the rediscovery of a thought-extinct cockroach population on Lord Howe Island. Before commencing his PhD, he worked as a Research Assistant in the MEEP Lab, during which time he led projects on the systematics of peacock spiders, horizontal gene transfer between bacteria and cockroaches, and the behavioural ecology of island-endemic invertebrates.
